  • Johan Ferreira Sr. was born in 1934. After 18 years as a schoolteacher in Namibia, he decided in 1971 to start a passenger bus company with one bus only, and called the business “Central Bus Service”. Over a period of 5 years, the company expanded its business to 5 busses and also changed its name to “Windhoek Bus Service”.

In 1979, Mr Ferreira started a second passenger bus company in Cape Town, South Africa and called it “Intercape”. At first, the company operated a shuttle service between the Cape Town airport and the City Centre only.

In 1986, Intercape applied for and obtained intercity permits for the transport of passengers between Cape Town and Port Elizabeth. It was also in this year that Johann Ferreira Jr, joined his father at Intercape.

In 2008, Johann Ferreira Jr bought 100% of the shares of Intercape from the Ferreira family trust and took over the management of the company. Today, Johann, together with a handpicked team of highly skilled and dedicated professionals make it their mission to provide a safe, dependable and affordable road transport service to passengers throughout Southern Africa with thier 230 coach busses.

  • History of the Record Player:

    1857 – The Phonautograph
Édouard-Léon Scott de Martinville invents the phonautograph, the first device to record sound—though it couldn’t play it back.

    1877 – The Phonograph
Thomas Edison creates the phonograph, capable of recording and playing back sound using tinfoil-covered cylinders.

    1880s – The Graphophone
Alexander Graham Bell’s Volta Laboratory improves Edison’s design, using wax cylinders and introducing the term “graphophone.”

    1890s – The Gramophone
Emile Berliner develops the gramophone, using flat discs with spiral grooves, paving the way for mass production of records.

1920s – Rise of Shellac Discs
Advances in microphone technology and flat disc commercialization popularize record players. Discs made of shellac played at 78 RPM.

1930s – The Birth of Vinyl
RCA Victor releases the first commercial vinyl records—more durable and higher quality, spinning at 33โ…“ RPM.
Columbia Records promotes the long-playing (LP) format.

    1940s – The 45 RPM Single
RCA Victor introduces the 7-inch, 45 RPM record, ideal for singles.

    1950s–1960s – Electronic Amplification
Record players adopt electronic amplifiers, transforming needle vibrations into electrical signals for speaker playback.

1980s – The Digital Era Begins
The arrival of the compact disc (CD) introduces digital audio, marking the decline of vinyl’s mainstream dominance.

    2008–Present – Vinyl Revival
Vinyl records make a comeback, cherished for their warm sound and nostalgic appeal. Sales continue to rise among collectors and music enthusiasts.

  • ONE WEAK LINK CAN SINK THE WHOLE TEAM

Professor Phelps in Australia carried out a fascinating experiment with students.

He divided them into groups of four and tasked them with solving management problems. The winning group could walk away with $100.

But here’s the catch—unbeknownst to the students, some groups were given a “special guest” planted to sabotage the process:

    >> The Indifferent One – more interested in scrolling their phone than contributing.

    >> The Sarcastic One – throwing sharp, dismissive comments to belittle others.

    >> The Pessimist – constantly doubting, draining hope, and spreading negativity.

The outcome was stunning: Even when three members were bright, energetic, and motivated, the presence of just one toxic teammate caused performance to drop by 30–40%.

โœ“ Key Lesson: Success in teams isn’t just about gathering talented people—it’s about ensuring the environment is free from destructive attitudes.

As leaders, managers, and business owners, it’s our duty to protect team spirit. One weak link can waste time, lower morale, and derail productivity. Effective leadership means managing toxic behavior quickly or removing it completely so the whole team can thrive.

<> Remember: A strong team is not only built by brilliance but preserved by discipline, respect, and the right culture.
