The Feast of the Hyena
The Feast of the Hyena
The elders tell us that "the teeth of a person may be white, but their heart is often black."
In 2026, the "white teeth" of the world belong to the Great Pretenders: the United Nations, NATO, and the European Union. They smile at us from the podiums of Geneva and Brussels, speaking the polished language of a "rules-based international order." But we must ask: whose rules? And who is the referee?
They tell us that the world is a village, but in this village, "the goat does not negotiate a treaty with the leopard."
They speak of "sovereignty" in Eastern Europe while they map the "regime changes" of the Global South. They speak of "human rights" while their borders are lined with the drowned bodies of those fleeing the very wars they ignited. They treat the United Nations like a private social club where the rich decide who gets to eat and the poor are invited only to wash the dishes.
The Empire has become a "rules-based" hydra. NATO is its muscle, the EU is its accountant, and the UN is its priest, offering a hollow blessing for the slaughter. They tell us that "all men are created equal," but their actions prove they believe "the death of a lion is a tragedy, but the death of a thousand ants is just an afternoon."
Look at the "Global North" in 2026. They preach about the "sanctity of life" while their factories churn out the drones that turn weddings into funerals. They talk about "climate justice" while they scramble to carve up the African continent for the "green" minerals of the future reminding us that "when the elephants fight, it is the grass that suffers; and when the elephants make love, the grass suffers just the same."
They have created a system where the "law" is a fence that keeps the poor out and a bridge that lets the rich in. They condemn the "brutality" of the unpretending kings, yet they are the ones who sell the kings the handcuffs and the surveillance and the armaries. They are like the hunter who cries at the funeral of the bird he shot.
But let the Pretenders hear this: "The sun does not forget those who are forgotten by the shade."
The rules-based order is a house built on sand and stolen timber. It is a system that believes it can own the rain and fence off the wind. But the earth is not a piece of paper to be signed at a summit.
We are entering a time where the "ants" are beginning to talk to one another. We are realizing that "if you want to go fast, go alone; but if you want to go far, go together." The Global South is no longer content to be the "menu" at the Empire’s feast.
The Pretenders think their high walls and their complex laws will save them. But they forget the most basic truth of the bush: "The forest was shrinking, but the trees kept voting for the axe, for the axe was clever and convinced the trees that because his handle was made of wood, he was one of them."
In 2026, the trees are waking up. They see the iron of the axe. They see the hypocrisy of the mask. And they know that a new world is not found in the "rules" of the destroyer, but in the songs of the survivors.
The hyena may laugh, but the night still belongs to the moon.
